The BONO UM Steam Generators are our direct fired forced circulation steam generators. The internal coils of the steam generator surround the flame of the burner, absorbing the thermal energy and transferring it directly to the process fluid,in this case water. The water then changes phase and is supplied to the customer’s process as steam. The UM is designed with minimal thermal inertia, allowing for quick start up (roughly 2 to 3 minutes) and is ideal for batch processes. These steam generators are implemented in many applications including, but not limited to: laundromats, textile industries, food & beverage, rubber, cellulose industries, and woodworking.
The UM has also been designed to be supplied with a variety of forced draft burners as provided by some of the world’s leading burner manufactures. This allows us to utilize a variety of fuels, meet stringent emissions requirements, and even allow our customers the opportunity to select the burner of their choice.
The UM can be supplied in either a horizontal or vertical configuration, dependent upon the customer's requirements. The horizontal orientation is the most common configuration due to its ease of access to the burner and heater coils. The vertical orientation is the best option when it comes to optimizing facility floor space.
The UM-PA is our high efficiency option of the UM Steam Generator. The UM-PA is constructed in a vertical orientation and is supplied with a combustion air preheater alongside the heater. The simple addition of the combustion air preheater can increase the efficiency of the heaters to upwards of 90%.
The UM-ECO is our feed water preheater option of the UM Steam Generator. The feed water preheater utilizes an economizer to preheat the water entering the steam generator. This enables the customer to obtain optimum performance of the generator by supplying the necessary feed water temperatures to the Steam Generator. The addition of the ECO can increase the efficiency of the heaters to upwards of 93%.
The BONO UM, UM-PA and UM-ECO Steam Generators are manufactured in Italy and are available designed/constructed to various local code requirements around the world. The most common codes are ASME with National Board registration for the United States, CRN for Canada, and CE/PED/TUV/DIN for Europe. Alternative code requirements may be met if necessary.
Package and containerized systems are available for both the UM, UM-PA, and UM-ECO Steam Generators. These package systems can be customized to meet each of our customers’ needs, including but not limited to: control panel, feedwater pumps, dearerator or feedwater tanks, water treatment, and ancillary components.
Steam Generators are a form of low water content boilers used to provide customers with steam as a heat transfer media. There are two types of low water content steam generators, forced circulation and natural circulation.
Forced circulation steam generators utilize a pump to maintain a steady and constant supply of water to the generator. Water is supplied to the steam generator at a rate determined by the customers' process requirements. As heat demand fluctuates, the burner and pump will make the necessary adjustments to properly supply sufficient steam to the customer's process.
Natural circulation steam generators utilize gravity and differential heat energy to maintain a steady and constant supply of water to the generator. With the use of natural circulation a pump is no longer required and the rate at which steam is generated is dictated by the burner. As the burner modulates the rate of steam production increases or decreases.
